Répertoire International de Littérature Musicale (RILM) is a comprehensive music bibliography serving the global music research community, committed to promoting cultural understanding through the dissemination of knowledge about music research. RILM focuses on developing an international comprehensive, ever-expanding online database that covers all types of publications worldwide related to music research—defined broadly—on all genres of music, in all languages. In addition to detailed verified bibliographic information, entries in the database are enhanced with abstracts that summarize the item's content, searchable keywords, and indexing based on carefully researched authority tables. The work of RILM Ireland is concerned with ensuring that Ireland's musicological output is represented in the international RILM database.
RILM Ireland is based at the Research Foundation for Music in Ireland. The RILM Ireland/RFIM work has been supported by a grant from the Music Libraries Trust.
RILM Ireland worked closely with RILM's International Centre in New York in the development of a series of online video tutorials to encourage author self-submission to RILM. The series demonstrates how to create records for books (monograph), an article in a periodical, an article in a symposium, a dissertation, an electronic resource and a review. These videos are available on RILM website and are used throughout the world.
