You are cordially invited to attend the SMI Associated Event: Music, Intertextuality, and Inter-Art Forms in Third Republic France: Remembering Paul Dukas at 150.
Chaired by Laura Watson (in association with Helen Julia Minors and Cormac Newark) and hosted by Maynooth University Music Department, this international colloquium on twentieth-century French music runs from Friday 3 July to Sunday 5 July 2015. The event is generously supported by the SMI, Maynooth University Music Department, MU Research Office, and MU Faculty of Arts, Celtic Studies & Philosophy.
The event features:
•c.30 international and Irish speakers
•a plenary address by renowned pianist and scholar Roy Howat (Royal Academy of Music, London) on 'The Lure and Risks of Performers' Recollections'
•a recital of Debussy and Dukas by distinguished Dublin pianist Thérèse Fahy (Royal Irish Academy of Music)
•a posthumous paper by the late Daniel Albright, 'Lost in the Labyrinth: The Ariadne of Dukas and Maeterlinck', delivered by Marta S. Rivera Monclova
